How to prove your immigration status- April 2024

There are currently different ways which Queen Mary students can prove their immigration status, depending on their nationality, how they applied for their current visa, and why they need to demonstrate their status. The way you prove your status is changing in the coming months.

If you are any nationality and you attended a Visa Application Centre outside the UK to enrol your biometrics as part of the Student visa application process, you will currently have a physical document (visa vignette or BRP card) valid no later than 31.12.2024. You will generate a share code to prove your right to rent or right to work. Most students will demonstrate their right to study at Queen Mary by showing specified documents. If your permission is valid beyond 31.12.2024, you will be invited to create an online account for an eVisa. We will be posting further details about how and when you can do this soon.

The above will also apply to you if your applied to extend your Student visa inside the UK and enrolled your biometrics as part of the application and received a BRP card.

If you are a non-visa national and applied for Student permission inside the UK, and were able to prove your identity through the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check‘ app and were not required to enrol your biometrics, you will be able to prove your right to work, study and rent by generating a share code.

If you are an EEA or Swiss national and you applied for your current permission inside or outside the UK and were able to prove your identity through the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check‘ and were not required to enrol your biometrics, you will be able to prove your right to work, study and rent by generating a share code.
